Book design for a personal
story & poem collection
This was the first book design project that I completed, through which I learned the basics of internal and external book design. I chose a selection of short stories and poems centered around the theme of connection and communication. I favored a more minimalist design for the cover, wanting the title and the overall theme to stand out the most.
For this project, I was directed to include images alongside the body copy to showcase my photo editing skills that I learned in the class. I personally appreciated using images that helped highlight the themes of the stories and poems that I selected; I believe that imagery is a powerful tool for telling stories, as they can draw the reader further into the emotions of each story.
